"What I look at that is visible decides who I am. I am what I can look at. What I admire judges me." (Jean-Luc Marion, In Excess 61)

Adrian Gorea is a Canadian based artist with an academic interest in commercial and religious iconic images. From his practice as a Byzantine iconographer and the direct experience of seeing people prostrate before the icons he had made, Adrian turned to contemporary art techniques, phenomenological studies, and pop culture icons to further explore how viewers connect to images in general. In brief, his view is that the practical and aesthetic inquiries into the Byzantine theology of image brings a fundamental contribution to contemporary art making and criticism.
